Assembled Suite of Eight George III Mahogany Dining Chairs in the Hepplewhite Taste, ca. 1800 and later, comprised of three armchairs and five sidechairs, each with a swag-carved splat, the upholstered seats in leather with paneled tapering square legs, two with H-form stretchers, all with spade feet, h. 36-1/2".

In overall good condition. The surfaces exhibit normal mars, wear, abrasions and indications of age and use. There are a few past restorations. Wear to the perimeter edges of the legs, no visible breaks to the legs noted. The chairs are generally tight and serviceable except as noted: One sidechair exhibits a very small amount of play. One arm is slightly loose. There is a tightly glued repaired break at the base of that arm. One armchair exhibits a glued and imperfectly aligned split extending a few inches but not all the way, across the crest rail. There is a small splinter loss at that point on the back side. Two of the applied roundels are missing from the front side. The central splat carving is a match on two of the sidechairs. The two sidechairs with stretchers, and one other side chair, all have a matching splat with different carving. The three armchairs are similarly carved to the latter group of sides. The leather seat covers exhibit scattered cracks and tears.
