Fiore de Henriquez, Italian-British, 1921-2004, Bronze Sculpture of a Figure, signed Fiore in casting, 12" high, the artist was born a hermaphrodite, studied under Arturo Martini and later Artur Lipchitz. She sculpted thousands of bust portraits, many of famous people. De Henriquez's gender identity informed much of her work, with its recurring motifs of paired heads, conjoined figures, and ambiguous mythological creatures. Much of her early work was in the primitive mode.
