A Indian portable shrine of Ganesha. 19th century. Wooden double-door shrine box, covered with heavily worn-off coral linens, with an ivory statue of Ganesha inside. Box: 10 1/2"h x 7 1/2"w x 4 1/4"d, statue: 6 1/2"h x 3 3/4"w.
Bidders should be aware of the changing laws regarding commercialization of ivory and other product containing endangered species, including but not limited to coral, ivory and tortoiseshell, on the Federal, State and International levels. This lot will be accompanied by a signed affidavit from the client that this object was in the United States prior to January 18, 1990, and is to the best of their knowledge and ability made prior to February 26, 1976 in accordance with Federal law.
