This absolutely lovely antique bed boasts wonderful carvings on the headboard, footboard, and siderails! Dating to 1880, the French chestnut bed is just over 57 inches wide, and it is richly carved in the traditional Brittany style. The top of the headboard is carved with a man and women in a pastoral scene portraying the rural couple relaxing beneath a windmill. You can almost see the sails turning on the windmill, as this nice quality bed is so finely carved! A tableau on the footboard panel depicts a scene of merry villagers. The bed is further adorned with floral carvings as well as half and quarter ship wheels in tribute to coastal Brittany's maritime history. This superior antique French bed will make a very decorative and unusual addition to your bedroom or guest bedroom! The headboard measures 58 inches high, and both it and the footboard are 57.25 inches wide and a solid 3.5 inches deep. The footboard measures 39.5 inches high. The two siderails are 72.75 inches long. Actual interior dimensions are 74.75L x 51.75W, which would require a custom mattress. However, this bed could be converted to queen size for an additional fee - please inquire about this option.
