A lavishly decorated Irish teapot in the late Victorian style
This teapot has a lobed pear-shaped body and stands on a circular and profiled foot. The body shows a floral and foliate decoration, including two shell and scroll decorated cartouches, one of which is vacant, and the other one bears an engraved crest of two conjoined hands, suitable to the families Alexander, Buchanan, Haulton, Hurot, Lestrange, Liston, Strange, Straunge, Wayland. The fluted swan necked spout shows a fine floral and foliate decoration. The C scroll handle has an acanthus leaf decorated thumb rest. The lobed and domed cover is embellished with flowers, which continue to the upper part of the teapot, and bears a flower and leaf shaped knob.
Condition:
The teapot is in a very good condition with slight traces of use. The height, including the handle, is 20 cm, while the weight is approximately 811 g. (cko)
