Description
Circa 1878, the brass-bound coromandel case opening to a fitted interior housing 17 gentleman's travel and vanity articles, most of the smaller pieces with mother-of-pearl handles, the cut-crystal pieces with sterling silver lids, each with maker's mark of George Betjemann & Sons, London, and monogrammed ''GAAM(?)'', the interior hinged cover with concealed latch releasing a rectangular mirror and fold-out leatherette pocket, above a the forward drop-down panel with a fitted compartment for a gilt-washed hand mirror and concealing one handled and one button-operated drawer, overall: 8.25'' H x 12.125'' W x 9.375'' D, est: $1000/1500

Condition
Overall good condition, with general light marks, scratches, wear, dust accumulation and tarnishing to silver elements commensurate with age. Button-operated drawer will not budge; handled drawer difficult to remove. Scattered shrinkage cracks to case; the longest running the length of the cover. An approximately .5'' x .125'' shallow divot and corresponding area of fill to lower interior edge near lock plate. Lacking key; lock engaged, cover does not completely close. Monogrammed, as stated.
