Description
Japan, Edo to Meiji period, ca mid 19th century. Rare and adorable pewter water pitcher in the form of a fish. Wonderfully detailed incised decorated sides, top fin acts as the fill hole, glass eyes and spout emerging from the fish's mouth, rear fin removable. Size: 10" L x 6.625" H (25.4 cm x 16.8 cm).
Provenance: Ex-Paul and Louise Bernheimer collection, Cambridge, MA and Laguna Woods, CA., acquired before 1980.
