Description
Germany, 19th century CE. Rare pair of carved wooden nutcrackers, each in the form of a lion. First is an openwork form with seated lion, nut is placed between his legs and handle screws to force open the meaty nut. Next example is a recumbent lion on a platform, opening for the nut is on the underside of the platform, handle again screwing to crush the nut. Size for longest. Size: 8.5" L (21.6 cm).
