Description: Schafer and Vater Mad Hatter pink bisque tea set. Covered tea pot, creamer, four cups and saucers. All figural in pink bisque with green/gold trim. Tea pot body formed by the wide deep skirt of a woman, a slender ribbed spout at the front. The cover formed by the torso of a woman wearing a ruffled collar and balloon sleeves, a tall ribbon on her head. The handle formed by a slender elongated figure of a bent over gentleman wearing a tall top hat. The open creamer in the same form with the handle as the elongated gentleman. Four matching cups and ruffled saucers .All pieces with ornate scrolls and swags. Stamped with #'s 3839, 3850.

History: Schafer and Vater porcelain factory was founded in Rudolstadt, Thuringia, Germany in 1890. The factory specialized in decorative pieces of porcelain, usually in white or colored bisque. it produced many novelty figural items such as creamers, toothpick holders, boxes and hatpin holders. The company ceased production in 1962, and collectors now seek out it's charming pieces.
