Description: A wooden Truncheon styled Tipstaff from the reign of Queen Victoria, (early 1850's). The tipstaff is painted black with a brown, circular gripped handle."High Constable of the town of Worthing." is written above the grip.
History: The name "Tipstaff" originates from the early law enforcement officers who would apprehend a person intended for arrest by enforcing their duty, if necessary, with a tipped staff or stave. The staff was made of wood or metal or both.

Condition
Good condition for it's age during the height of Queen Victoria. Some scratching to the wood but no chips. The British Coat of Arms remains 95% intact, with a few scratches just above the coat of arms.
