Description: All brass tipstaff from early 19th century. Made by "Parker Field & Sons, 233 Holborn, London". Marked bottom left side.
History: The early English Police Officer's authority was represented not by a badge, but by a tipstaff. The tipstaff represented the officer's direct authority from the crown to make an arrest. There are considerable differences in styles and materials.
