Description
Description: This is a hand-held achromatic telescope for use on board ship. It has a single draw tube, an extending shade for the objective lens to reduce glare when in use and a sliding eyepiece cover. The barrel is covered in wood, while all the other fittings are brass. Both lens cover slides are present.
History: National Maritime Museum Greenwich has a scope by this maker, this is an earlier example.
