Circa 1896, Gorham maker's marks, further marked ''999/1000 Fine / C2574'', the jug with puce overglaze Ceramic Art Company / Lenox mark to underside, signed to body with artist's conjoined monogram ''WHC'' likely for W.H. Clayton, titled ''A taste of the best.'', the scrolling foliate sterling silver overlay monogrammed ''HJE'', the decanter hand-painted in black and white with a monk in a cellar sipping wine from a coupe, surmounted by a silver-clad cork stopper, 9.75'' H x 5.5'' W x 5.25'' D, est: $400/600

Overall good condition, with general tarnishing to silver commensurate with age. Scattered scratches and scuffs to body. Reddish residue to interior.
