Item Details
Description
Description: The first is a 4" high cobalt blue, hand painted and richly gilded Royal Crown Derby vase made in England. Secondly, a matching light blue tea cup and saucer from R. S. Prussia. They're hand signed by the artist, Angelica Kauffman, with images of four maidens in the garden. A dainty cup and both pieces gilded with ferns and foliage. The other cup and saucer are FSK, Czeckoslovakia, stamped. They depict a boy with his dog and a basket of apples. Polychrome but earth tones and gilding.

History: The RS Wreath and Star logo, trademarked in Germany in 1905, was used by itself and in combination with "Prussia." or "Suhl.". This is the only logo that is composed of two colors, red and green. Here, it appears that the Prussia combination was used just for American exports, the Suhl used for exports to other markets. These marks were used from 1905 up to 1910, when they were replaced by all green combinations. The distinction from modern counterfeits may be made by the fact that genuine marks have periods after Prussia or Suhl. cup and saucer were made by Friedrich Simon Company of Carlsbad or Karlsbad. He usually signed his pieces as FSC or FSK. The porcelain was made in Bohemia and then decorated by FSK in Austria or Czechoslovakia. There pieces were made between 1900 and 1940. FSK is know as being a fine china and pieces with original labels are very hard to find.
