Description
Rome, 1st to 4th century CE. This is a small bronze figurine of a prancing dog with ears erect, one paw lifted forward, and lightly incised details to suggest fur. Man's -- and woman's -- best friend today was also the best friend of the Romans, even mentioned in Roman legal code as guardians of the home and domesticated animals and written about by Virgil. This one is a lifelike and charming representation! Size: 1.5" L x 0.5" W x 1.55" H (3.8 cm x 1.3 cm x 3.9 cm)
