Description
Chinese, Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period mark (1736-1795), likely later. A square famille jaune porcelain plaque in stained wood frame, the composition centered by a large lotus form cartouche bearing two opposing 5-clawed scaly dragons in iron red and gold amid cloud scrolls and flames and facing a single pearl, the cartouche reserved to an imperial yellow ground filled with meandering vines with purple and pink chrysanthemum blossoms and large green scrolling leaves, the porcelain with an outer border of pink and light blue geometric patterning punctuated at corners with iron red bats and along sides with red archaic Shou symbols. Gilt six character archaic seal mark for Qianlong imperial reign at lower center. Overall (without brass hanging fixture) approximately 17" square. Sight size of porcelain approximately 15.25" square.
