Description

A VICTORIAN GOTHIC REVIVAL BRASS MOUNTED BURL WALNUT BOX, SECOND HALF 19TH CENTURY, of coffre form with an arched rectangular lid centering a stylized cross mount having trefoil reticulated details, enclosed by similarly decorated corner brasses, above a shaped escutcheon and corners continuing trefoil decoration. Height: 5 1/2" Width: 7 5/8" Depth: 4"

Condition

Good condition, with normal minor surface buildup, age cracks, minor surface marks and scratches, small back right corner chip, a few small veneer lifting areas. Beautiful burl walnut and nice mounts. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
