Description
A DUTCH GEORGE III WALNUT AND MAHOGANY OPEN ARMCHAIR, LATE 18TH CENTURY, in the manner of Thomas Chippendale (English 1718-1779), the subtly shaped crest rail over a walnut veneered central baluster form splat pierced with a series of apertures and gadroons, the elegant ears leading to tapering stiles issuing sinuously shaped arms flanking the deep padded seat covered in later blue and white leopard print fabric, over a provincial shaped skirt and raised on unusual cabriole legs scalloped and embellished with carved scrolling acanthus and ending in ball and claw feet. Height: 36 1/2" Width: 27" Depth: 23 1/4"
Condition
Structurally sound and in good condition. General wear, such as scuffs, scratches, and age cracks throughout, as well as repairs and restorations as is expected for the age of the piece, such as the repaired and intact fractures found throughout the veneered walnut face.
