A "LE GOLLIWOGG" FIGURAL PERFUME BOTTLE PRESENTATION, FOR VIGNY PARIS, CIRCA 1919, designed by Michel de Brunhoff (French 1892-1958), the unopened bulbous clear glass flacon of human aspect, flanked by two small black enamel feet and centered by a paper label naming the scent and perfumer, as well as featuring a pair of hands, under a white and black spotted collar, the black glass stopper representing a head with white and red enameled features topped by black fur hair, accompanied by original black and gold presentation box with pink satin lined interior. Height: 3 1/4" Width: 6 1/2" Depth: 6 1/2" NOTE: The "Le Golliwogg" perfume takes its name from a character in popular 19th century African children's stories and was a fragrance for women created by Vigny, designed by Michel De Brunhoff (French 1892-1958), Editor in Chief of French Vogue, in celebration of the 1919 arrival of the American Jazz Bands in Paris, France. Flacon in excellent condition, unopened and retaining all of original perfume. The main paper label is complete and in excellent condition, fully adhered to the glass bottle, but it appears to have shifted slightly. Presentation box in fine condition, the only major loss the gold serigraphy "Vigny Paris" on one of the satin lined flaps. Otherwise, slight discoloration of satin interior.
