William Bullock, a traveler, naturalist, and antiquarian, went to Mexico in 1822, where he was well received by the authorities, aided in his researches, and received from the Mexican government a gift of the silver mine of Del Bada near Themascaltpec. From this tour Bullock brought home many valuable curiosities. Notable in the present work, in addition to the text, are the aquatint illustrations, including a folding panorama of Mexico City. Sabin notes that "the author was the first English traveler in Mexico since Father Gage, in 1640. "Perhaps the most interesting of the [aquatint] books dealing with America is the Six Month's Residence and Travels in Mexico (1824) of William Bullock."
