Description

Oil on canvas painting of the New York Yacht Club steam yacht "Stranger" by gifted artist Elisha Taylor Baker. The yacht is seen cruising through calm waters past Execution Lighthouse. "Stranger" and her sister yacht "Corsair" were among the first large steam yachts built in the United States. The two yachts were designed and built by William Cramp & Sons in 1880, and had principal dimensions of 189 feet.
