DESCRIPTION: La Plata Silver Mining Company of Nevada stock certificate. Certificate states the following: "This is to certify that Elias E. Kinzer is entitled to twenty-five shares in the Capital Stock of the La Plata Silver Mining Company of Nevada. Transferable in person or by attorney only on the books of the company on the surrender of the certificate. Office Reading, Pa. April 24th, 1867". Signed at bottom by David S. Hunter, Secretary and M. Le Hoase, President. The back of the certificate has information about the Le Plata Silver Mining Company. The La Plata mill was built in early 1867 and located in a canyon on the eastern slopes of the Toiyabe range. A post office was built and in operation from January to November of 1886, then transferred to Junction. MEASUREMENTS: 11" x 7-1/4". CONDITION: Slight wear consistent with age. Good condition.
