( of Alexandria, Greek scholar and mathematician, edited and arranged Euclid's Elements and wrote commentaries on works by Euclid and Ptolemy, father of Hypatia, mathematician, c. CE 350-370, d. 415, c. CE 335-c. 405) [Extracts from his chronological tables of Eastern kings and Roman emperors, transcribed from a manuscript in the Laurentian Library in Florence (Plut. 28. 12; Bandini, Catalogus, 1768, ii, 24), and with notes referring to Dodswell's Dissertationes Cyprianicae 1684], manuscript in Greek, 30pp., on paper, stained in a few places, slightly browned, blanks at beginning and end, pencil inscription "Heber" and "TS Pattie", and bookplate of Nicholas Reed Herbert on front endpapers, 18th century vellum, slightly soiled, Heber copy with circular lot number 1562 on upper cover, [Phillipps MS. 8364], sm. 4to, [c. 1700]. Provenance: Heber sale, 10th February 1836, lot 1562.
