Description

The square pillar design of this reel denotes it as one of JVH's earliest models, it is clearly marked on the upper faceplate "Wm Mills & Son, NY, Pat. June 25, 89" (Mills patent for button operated spring drag). Comes with solid undamaged hard rubber side plates and all German silver fittings, ornate reverse counter balanced "S" handle with size #2 stamped into the foot. Measuring 2 1/4" diameter (excluding pillar mounts) it also includes a full length unaltered foot, rear mounted hard rubber click switch and wear compensating end cap. This scarce reel is damage free, fully functional, and still has a great original patina earning it a rating of Very Good plus to Excellent minus.
