Good "Baltimore Rose" Sterling Silver Tureen, first quarter 20th century, retailed by Hennegen Bates Co., Baltimore, Maryland, of oval form, with four robust acanthus-crested scroll feet, stirrup handles, and fitted domed lid with floriform finial, the whole decorated all over with well-detailed floral and foliate repousse in the traditional Baltimore manner, h. 7-1/2", l. 12-3/4", w. 7-1/4", 69.72 t. oz.

A beautiful piece with no condition issues noted other than minor dings and scuffs commensurate with its age. Small 1/8" crack at the apex of the ladle cut-out. Superb chasing repousse work. Marked (on the underside): "Sterling / Hennegan Bates Co."; the mark worn.
