Description
BLOWN-MOLDED GIV-7 QUART JUG / PITCHER, colorless, produced from the quart decanter mold with no designation on the label, waisted neck and plain flared rim, applied strap handle with bold medial ridge, Rayed and Ringed Type II base with rough pontil mark. Possibly Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1825-1835. 7 3/4" H, 5" D rim, 4" D base.
Literature: Wilson - American Glass, vol. 1, p. 225, fig. 256 (ex-collection of George McKearin). Parallels B & K I, fig. 1330.
Provenance: Recently discovered in West Virginia.
Undamaged except for a very faint, short annealing check to body at left side of upper handle terminal which does not break the surface, probably as made.
