Description
While the manufacturer of the original Robot, Otto Berning & Co in Schwelm/Westfalen, was unable to continue production immediately after the war, its designer Heinz Kilfitt produced a handful of very similar cameras in Munich, until this was prohibited due to violation of the Berning-owned patents. The „Kilfitt-Robot“ is a sort of replica of the Robot II, similar on the outside, but internally quite different. The Compur shutter was made by Gauthier, the body of the camera has a more oval form and lacks engravings, the camera back is hinged on the other side and has a different, superior lock. The finder can now be switched from 4 to 7.5cm simply by turning a small dial on top of the finder housing. The lens is a „Rodenstock-Kilar“ 1.9/4cm no.2001047 (a double Gaussian type like the Rodenstock Heligon). Extremely rare and historically important camera (about five examples are known)., c.1946
