Robert Indiana (b. 1928)
Robert Indiana, also known under Robert Clark, is an American artist, who is associated with the Pop art movement. He is mainly known by his bold character images. His works are created form numbers or letters - such as the work LOVE, made in 1966 - and they are reduced to the bare essentials in their simplicity. Inspired by advertising he also created logos with an emblematic figure. He describes his works himself as ‘hard-edge Pop’. (fea)
