Description
An early 20th century 18ct gold opal and diamond cluster ring. The opal cabochon, measuring 8.5 by 7 by 4.5mms, within an old-cut diamond surround, with a tapered band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.85ct. Ring size N. Weight 3.6gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Some wear to the settings, some claws require attention. Opal slightly loose in the setting. Opal white body colour, with fair to good play-of-colour showing a range of colours, with predominately green hues. Opal in fair to poor condition, with significant abrasion affecting the surface polish and play-of-colour. Diamonds fairly well matched. Diamonds vary slightly in size and shape. Diamonds bright. Diamonds show light and dark coloured inclsuions some of which can only be seen with some difficulty under magnification Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Diamonds in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Stamped 18ct. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
