Kuba people, African (Congo), 20th century. Hand carved and decorated African tribal Bwoom helmet mask with carved wood and woven fiber apron ornately decorated with cowrie shells on top and sides of head, cheeks and chin line, metal panel applied on forehead and nose, incised lattice motif on wood located on nose and cheeks, beaded borders throughout, patterned strips on woven fabric top. Unmarked. Overall approximate height 21.75"", width 8", depth 14.7". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia.
