Kuba people, African (Congo), 20th century. Hand carved and decorated African tribal Bwoom helmet mask with carved wood and woven fiber apron ornately decorated with cowrie shells on top and sides of head, ears and chin line, patterned beading on forehead, jaw line, nose and mouth, incised wood nose, applied copper alloy panels on forehead and cheeks. Unmarked. Overall approximate height 18.4", width 8.75", depth 10.4". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Dr. & Mrs. Calvin Wayne McLarin, Atlanta, Georgia.
