Description
GUILLAUME DELISLE (FRENCH, 1675-1726) MAP OF NORTH AMERICA, hand-colored engraving on paper, titled "L'Amerique Septentrionale/America Septentionalis in suas Praecipuas Partes Divisa, ad Usum Serenissim". Published by Jean Covens and Cornelius Mortier in Amsterdam. Retains early hand-colored outlining. Later pencil notation "1733" in lower margin. Housed under glass in a modern frame. Circa 1708 or slightly later. 19" x 23" plate, 22 5/8" x 26 3/4" OA.
Very good condition with light overall toning, minor scattered areas of foxing/spotting, and small tear at bottom edge of center vertical fold line. Not examined out of frame.
