B. Updike, with "Of this book, in addition to the regular edition, there have been printed and numbered one hundred and seventy-five copies de luxe, of larger format." Introduction by Theodore Roosevelt, with contributions by numerous authors, artists, and other esteemed persons, including General Joseph Joffre, Sarah Bernhardt, Laurence Binyon, Rupert Brooke, Jean Cocteau, Joseph Conrad, John Galsworthy, Thomas Hardy, W. B. Yeats, Charles Dana Gibson, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Auguste Rodin, and John Singer Sargent.
