Description
Pre-Columbian, West Coast Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. Quite delightful miniature pottery sculpture of a musician resting against a bird-form reclinitario. He sits holding a rattle in his right hand, legs folded inward, wearing wrapped turban-style headdress, large stone necklace and loin cloth. Behind him is a very accurate reclinitario with human legs at the base, a third tripod leg above and in the form of a bird's head with large single eye. Very rare! Size: 2.5" W x 4" H (6.4 cm x 10.2 cm).
