Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche III-IV, ca. 200 CE. A striking bichrome canteen pottery vessel, featuring a figural head with large, almond-shaped tear-streaming eyes, a prominent circular cap, and large ears as well as a nose with perforations that once suspended copper ornaments (note the oxidized green areas at the nostrils and ears). The entire body is finished in a lovely red on white finish with geometric designs adorning the round body. Size: 6.25" W x 7.25" H (15.9 cm x 18.4 cm)
