Description
A group of mostly Nashville related railroad ephemera from the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway and connected to the Edward Hicks family. Includes a cabinet card depicting train tracks, labeled "on line of N C & St. L. Ry", measuring 7" x 4 3/4", plus 3 CDVs of locomotives (marked on back Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works, Paterson New Jersey" and hand dated 1871. Also included are 25 railroad passes circa 1870-1910, most for the NC&St.L. Railway, but one for the Nashville and North Western Railroad made out to Ed Hicks, Director, dated 1870; some Denver City Cable Railway Co. Transfer tickets, accident ticket for the Traveler's Insurance Company; and about 16 pieces of other assorted ephemera including freight receipts and contracts on NC&StL letterhead, a handwritten document "Comings and Expenditures of Nashville and North Western RR from Sept. 1868-May 1 1869," and a copy of the N. C & St. L Ry News Item, August 1924 Huntsville Division issue, with cover photo of Gordon D. Hicks, superintendent of the Nashville division. Condition
Large corner loss to cabinet card. CDVs appear slightly trimmed, one has corner fold. Other items in good condition with expected toning and handling grime. Magazine has some corner creasing.
