Description
VIRGINIA OR MARYLAND "LONE STARS" PIECED QUILT TOP, predominantly red, cotton eight-pointed stars pieced of diamonds are set with red triangles in each block, creating a secondary design, three borders of equal size alternating patterned and plain fabric, hand stitched. Made by Emily Quail Moon (1844-1906), Baltimore, MD and Northumberland Co., VA. Circa 1880. 84" x 108".
Very good unused condition with expected staining, some spots.

Provenance: Property of Susan Aasen McGregor.
By descent from her great-grandmother Ellen Augustus Moon Thomas, sister of Emily Quail Moon.
