Lot of 23 U S Navy Destroyer Seals , some with commanding officer signaturesContained in an ordinary envelope marked " Early Destroyer Seals " and posted from " Nathan Hale Chapter, Waterbury, CT" were found a collection of raised embossed official seals from destroyer class ships of the United States Navy. Some of these seals have been used by further incarnations of these famous ships and others were only used for a short time as their namesakes were not used again on more modern ships of our fleet. The following United States Naval Destroyers Official Seals are in this collection: USS Brooks, six examples . ( The USS Brooks received six battle stars for her service in WWII) USS Reid, two examples ( The third USS Reid was sunk by Kamikazes during WWII) USS Charles Ausburn ( The USS Charles Ausburn received eleven battle stars for her service in WWII) USS Dahlgren ( 187) USS Billingsley USS Maury ( The USS Maury was one of the most highly decorated ships of WWII , 16 Battle Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation) USS Dallas ( 4 Battle Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation for service in WWII) USS Scorpion ( 3 Battles stars for service WWII , not a destroyer class, a Gato Class Submarine ) USS Flusser, two examples. ( The USS Flusser took part in the Atomic Weapons tests on the Marshall Islands) USS Barry ( The USS Barry DD-248 was sunk by Kamikazes during WWII, She received a Presidential Unit Citation and 4 Battle Stars) USS Putnam ( 3 Battle Stars) USS Du Pont (Presidential Unit Citation and 3 Battle Stars) USS Worden USS Breck USS Kane ( Received 7 Battle Stars for service WWII) USS Hatfield Signatures with the seals are from the following officers of The United States Navy:M.L.McCullough Ensign USN, USS BrooksE.G.Small USS BrooksWm.G.Greenman USS Brooks J.P Conover Jr. , USS HatfieldA.L.Main , USS ReidLeonard C. Additionally the autograph of "Lieutenant Commander USN C.B. White" who is believed to have served aboard the USS Reuben James is included with this collection. ( 5 7/8 in by 2 1/2 in ) This signature is not correspondance with an embossed seal. Each seal is on a separate piece of paper measuring approximately 2 in by 4 in (sizes vary slightly as they were hand cut from larger correspondence or forms) , some have marginal notes in pencil regarding names or dates. Each raised seal is legible, visible and intact. There are no tears, stains or noted damage to the contents of the collection.
