Description
A Roman bronze lamp in the form of a bull’s head, c. 1st – 2nd Century AD, with short, curved horns and incised eyes, the spout protruding from the animal’s mouth. A small knob at the back of the head between the horns for attachment of a fill-hole lid. 3 ¼ in x 1 ¾ in (9.5 x 4.5 cm). Nice dark brown patina. Ex Boston private collection.
