Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, probably Salinar culture, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. This is a well-formed pottery jug, a deep, earthy red color, with a tiny curved handle where the shoulder meets the steep, cylindrical neck. The body of the jug is bulbous and gourd like, and around the middle are some faint incised designs. The body bears marks of firing and use. Size: 7" W x 6.8" H (17.8 cm x 17.3 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Private Pavao collection, PA. acquired before 1980
