Description
Pre-Columbian, highlands of Peru, ca. 1400 to 1500 CE. Royal Inca Silver Beaker. Made of pure silver and formed by hammering the sheet metal over a wooden core. Used by royalty for drinking chichi, this would have been part of a king or noble’s set of household utensils. Silver, though valued less then gold in todays societies, was highly prized and valued nearly a highly as gold in the ancient Andean empires. Size: 3" W x 5" H (7.6 cm x 12.7 cm)
