Description
This cane or walking stick depicts a man at the top in place of a traditional grip. He is dressed in a brown button-up shirt with a red ascot. He is rosy cheeked and grinning widely. The hat is rimmed and shallow, a blue stripe just above the brim. By flicking the stick on the back of the head, one can change the direction of the man's eyes, spinning his hat in the process.

Condition: The stick that provides the motion for the eyes and hat has been broken off. Some rubbing and wear to both the grip and the body.
History: Canes were a popular accessory to the fashion minded far more than as an actual ambulatory aid during the 18th and 19th Centuries, dying out as a stable by the early 20th Century. Interestingly, the size of the ferrule, the metal cap on the base of a cane, is a fairly accurate measure of dating the cane, as by the 18th century, it began to shorten with the advent of maintained road systems and paved paths.
