Description
Europe, 14th century CE. A beautiful ring, silver with gilt over some of it to form the design of hands clasping. This style of ring, made all over Europe during the medieval period, uses the motif of "fede" (faith), two hands clasped together, to symbolize love and fidelity. These rings were made to be love tokens, possibly similar to our modern engagement rings. Highly wearable, this one would make a beautiful engagement ring itself! See a very similar example in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, UK. Ring size is a US 10, weighs 5.1 grams.
