Each sheet signed with monogram ‘Est’ to the right margin; one sheet dated ‘39’
Each sheet with label and details on the work on the reverse
Dimensions, matted: 84.5 x 55 cm each

The present triptych is a draft for a mural painting
Condition:
The sheets are mounted firmly under a mat and slightly stained. One of the sheets has a continuous horizontal crack. The cardboards show foxing, soiling and scuff marks, consistent with age.
Eduard Stella (1884-1955)
From 1900 to 1905, Eduard Stella studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts under C. O. Czeschka, and from 1905-1909 at the Vienna Academy under Heinrich Lefler. From 1913 to 1919, he exhibited repeatedly at the Vienna Secession. In 1921, he became a member of the Vienna KĂ¼nstlerhaus. He also worked as a stage designer at the Josefstädter Theater, the Neue Wiener BĂ¼hne, and the Volkstheater. From 1939, he taught at the Vienna Frauenakademie, and from 1942 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. Works by Stella can be found at the Wien Museum, and the collections of the Universität fĂ¼r Angewandte Kunst, amongst others. (cko)
