Early Dutch or Italian school landscape painting. 17th century. Oil on thick wood panel. Unsigned. A very small old master painting, depicting a man with his livestock wading in a river. The scene takes place during the evening sunset, with a waterfall, a large mountain and a bridge or aqueduct with attached tower in the background. The artist’s depiction of the figure and animals are quite animated in this early miniature painting. The frame dates to the 19th century.

Good condition for it’s age. No sign of restoration or in-painting under examination with ultra-violet light. Varnish has become very yellowed, causing the painting to appear dark under normal viewing conditions. Frame with losses, repairs, and touch-ups.
