A Near Eastern bronze horse bit with cheek pieces, c. 1000 – 800 BC, the central bit solid with curled loop at each end, the cheek pieces of open-work construction in the form of a horse, with loops on the head and hid quarters for attachment to the rest of the tackle. Bit 7 3/8 in (18.7 cm) in length, cheek pieces 4 in x 3 3/8 in (10.2 x 8.6 cm). Well-preserved with an olive green patina. Ex Sackler collection.
