John Milton was an 17th century English poet best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost (1667), written in blank verse, which earned him his reputation as one of the greatest English poets of his time. The poem addresses the Fall of Man, and Adam and Eve's expulsion from the Garden of Eden.
William Blake was an English poet, painter, and printmaker considered a seminal figure in the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age. The Songs of Innocence and of Experience is an illustrated collection of poems by Blake exploring childlike innocence and and the loss of childhood vitality through experience.
Charles Baudelaire was a French poet during the 19th century. "The Flowers of Evil" is his most famous work and it expresses the transient nature of beauty during a time of industrialization in Paris. Baudelaire is credited with coining the term "modernity".
