Fair, is worn at the purple cloth spine, with notable fraying at the top of the spine and tears along its length. There is moderate edge wear as well as scuffs, front and back. The attachment to the inside is secure. The illustrations and lettering are clearly legible. The only writing is a gift inscription at the front, dated Christmas '87. There are no stamps or other attachments. There is recurrent foxing, mostly to the end pages and borders, which are sunned. Most pages have little or no foxing. There is a tear at the lower gutter of the title page but no missing material, and no other notable tears. All pages are bound, though a few are partly loose at the bottom. There are no notable creases, and no notable fade to any illustrations or text.
