Description
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) was an Irish playwright, novelist, essayist, and poet. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, he became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s. The first piece is a collection of Oscar Wilde quotes, under the name Wilde took after being released from prison. The second is a reprint of a political essay Wilde wrote in 1891.

Condition
Cover has tears at the top and bottom of the spine, which is straight, and shallow bumps to the outside corners. The gilt work to the front and spine is unfaded. There is one small but notable stain on the spine (see photo). The connection to the inside is secure. The front end page has a gift notation, and a second owner's name, dated 1918, below that. There are a few random pencil marks, but almost all pages have none. There are no other indelible notations, no stamps or other attachments. The pages are almost uniformly clean. I've found two spot stains. All the text is as new. There are a few corner creases, but no pronounced creases, and none at all to almost all pages. The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages.
