Item Details
Description
Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. A spectacular piece of blown glass with sparkling iridescence. The shape is a low, wide bowl with a pinched neck and narrow spout terminating in a wide, flared, rolled rim. This design was made to minimize the evaporation of precious liquids like perfumes or oils. After the invention of blown glass in the first century CE, glass became easy to mass produce as well as cheaper, and so glass items entered everyday Roman life. This was probably a part of an ancient Roman's daily routine. Size: 5.15" W x 6" H (13.1 cm x 15.2 cm)
